Glen Arbor Arts Center’s Readers Theater holds auditions

Upcoming Event

The Glen Arbor Arts Center (formerly Glen Arbor Art Association) Readers’ Theater will hold auditions for two Sam Spade plays on Wednesday, Feb. 21, 7 p.m. at the Glen Lake Community Reformed Church, 4902 W. MacFarlane Road, in Burdickville. This Readers’ Theater production offers roles for 19 adults — a minimum of eight men, and 11 women. One of the male roles requires a French accent. One of the female roles requires an Italian accent.

In this pair of Spades, “The John Doe Caper” and “The Flopsy, Mopsy and Cottontail Caper,” Dashiell Hammett’s fictional detective finds himself matching wits with a range of colorful criminals and characters. The plays will be directed by Readers’ Theater veteran Harriett Mittelberger. Rehearsals will take place on Wednesdays. Performances are April 13-14, 7:30 p.m. at the church. Review copies of the scripts are available at the Glen Arbor Arts Center, 6031 S. Lake St., Glen Arbor. Digital versions of the script are also available by calling the GAAC, 231-334-6112. For more information visit the Art Center’s website. The GAAC is open during the week from 9 a.m.–2 p.m.
