Join the Glen Arbor Women’s Club for a fun filled day at the Running Bear 5K Run/Walk & ½ Mile Kids’ Run on Tuesday, July 23. Come out and take the challenge as the run takes off for its 17th year. This is the second year with chip timing for the Run. What makes a beautiful summer day even better? Spending it with family and friends who take the challenge. You can run or walk the 5K. As a chip timed event, we have added 6 age categories for males and females for a total of 16 categories from 10 & under to 80+. Winners will receive medals and prizes from Cherry Republic and Crystal River Outfitters and The Cyclery.

Glen Arbor’s annual Running Bear Run, a popular late July family dash which the Glen Arbor Women’s Club will hold for the 16th year on July 25, is now a chip-timed race. The Running Bear 5K Run/Walk & ½ Mile Kids’ Run features 16 age categories for males and females from ages 10 and under to 80 and older. Winners will receive medals and prizes from Cherry Republic and Crystal River Outfitters and The Cyclery. Youngsters running the ½ Mile Kids’ Run get to run with the Bear and take home a ribbon and a coupon for a free ice cream cone from Cherry Republic.

It doesn’t get any better than seeing all those cute kids ready to run their first race in the Running Bear Run’s ½ Mile Kids’ Run. They are so excited and can’t wait to start the race and beat the BEAR. Then there are the best runners from all over the area warming up and ready to hit the pavement in the 5K Run. But best of all is seeing the Grandmas and Grandpas walking or running with their families and the mom’s with their strollers pushing little ones along the race route. It is just fantastic to see everyone enjoying Glen Arbor’s annual Running Bear Run on Tuesday, July 26.

Glen Arbor’s popular annual Running Bear Run is back in 2021. Join the event on July 27 for a wonderful day with family and friends. Everyone is included from little ones to Grandma and Grandpa. There are nine age categories from 10 & under to 70 and up. You can run the 5K or take a more leisurely walk. The kids will have the “½ Mile Kids’ Run” to chase that bear. The Running Bear Run is back to charm the kids and to make great photo ops for all.

On Tuesday, July 24, the Running Bear 5K Run/Walk & ½ Mile Kids’ Run takes off for its 12th year. What makes a beautiful summer day even better? Spending it with family and friends who take the challenge. You can run or walk the 5K. Runners compete in 10 different age categories from 10-and-under to 80-plus with first and second-place metals and prizes from Cherry Republic and Crystal River Outfitters and the Cyclery. In addition, the ½ Mile Kids’ Run is available for younger runners. They get to run with the Bear and take home a ribbon and a coupon for an ice cream cone from Riverfront Ice Cream. Bring the whole family and enjoy a great day.

A perfect, blue-sky day in Glen Arbor with cool temperatures brought 703 participants to the annual Running Bear Run on July 25. Sponsored by the Glen Arbor Women’s Club, the race raises about $11,00 each year and 100 percent of the net proceeds are used to fund college scholarships and community organizations.

Most races take place on Saturdays and Sundays, but the annual Glen Arbor Running Bear 5k Run/Walk happens on Tuesday, July 25, at 9 a.m. The kids’ ½ mile run starts 5 minutes later at 9:05 a.m. This event takes place rain or shine, so come prepared!

This is the 10th birthday for the Glen Arbor Women’s Club “Running Bear 5K Run/Walk & 1/2 Mile Kids’ Run.” Join the celebration on Tuesday, July 26, at 9 a.m. in front of Cherry Republic on Lake St. in Glen Arbor. This is a favorite event for both local residents and visitors. The 5K is open to everyone. You can run or walk so young runners and our seniors can both take part. The Women’s Club has made it a family affair with a 1/2 Mile Kids’ Run for the little ones. The children get to run with the Bear and take home a ribbon along with coupons for an ice cream cone from Riverfront Ice Cream and a game of miniature golf provided by Dale’s Putt Putt. Bring the whole family and enjoy a great morning.
