Run faster than the bear at July 27 Running Bear Run

From staff reports

Glen Arbor’s popular annual Running Bear Run is back in 2021. Join the event on July 27 for a wonderful day with family and friends. Everyone is included from little ones to Grandma and Grandpa. There are nine age categories from 10 & under to 70 and up. You can run the 5K or take a more leisurely walk. The kids will have the “½ Mile Kids’ Run” to chase that bear. The Running Bear Run is back to charm the kids and to make great photo ops for all.

The 5K once again offers great prizes courtesy of Cherry Republic and Crystal River Outfitters and the Cyclery. There is an Overall Best Female and Male winner and first and second place in all of the age categories. The little ones will get ribbons and an ice cream cone from Cherry Republic. Don’t forget the raffle. Everyone entered in the 5K is eligible to win great prizes donated by local merchants.

The area in front of Cherry Republic will again be turned into the start and finish line for the 14th annual Running Bear Run. The 5K begins at 9 a.m. and the Kids’ Run follows at 9:05 a.m.  The money raised funds scholarships for Glen Lake High School graduates.

The cost is $20 for the 5K Run/Walk ($25, the day of the Run) and $5 for the Kids’ Run. You can register from 7:30 to 8:45 a.m. the day of the Run but are encouraged to sign up early by visiting RunningBearRun.com. Registration forms are available at Cherry Republic and M22 in Glen Arbor. An early registration will take place at the Glen Arbor Town Hall from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday, July 26. You can register there and already registered runners can pick up their bibs as well. T-shirts will be available for pick up and purchase. For more info, visit RunningBearRun.com or call 231-409-0514.
