Parallel 45 Theatre performs a staged reading of The Thanksgiving Play, a contemporary, comedic satire about the beloved national holiday, on Feb. 13, at 7:30 pm at the Glen Arbor Arts Center, 6031 S. Lake St., Glen Arbor.

Applications are available for the Glen Arbor Arts Center’s (GAAC) 2020 student exhibition, “Who Owns The Water?” This themed, juried exhibition takes place April 7-May 1, and is open to students in grades 9-12, attending schools in Benzie, Grand Traverse and Leelanau counties. The deadline for online submissions is March 4. Three cash prizes will be awarded.

Ekphrasis is the Greek term meaning to write about visual art. Area writers are invited to engage with the Glen Arbor Arts Center’s (GAAC) new exhibition, COLOR, and use the exhibition’s artwork as a source of writing prompts and inspiration. The exhibition features work by 29 visual artists, and runs January 10-March 26.

The Glen Arbor Arts Center (GAAC) hosts a holiday open house on December 5, from 4-6 pm. This celebration is part of Small Works, an exhibition of original art. This holiday show features art work 12×12 inches and smaller, all priced at $150 or less.

JoAnna Pepe, a counseling psychologist in Leelanau County, explores simple practices that can enrich how we relate to one another and the world, during a conversational discussion at the Glen Arbor Arts Center on Sunday, Nov. 24, from 2-3 pm.

The Glen Arbor Arts Center takes a short look back, and a long look forward, at contemporary fiber and textile arts on Sunday, October 6, at 2 pm. This visual survey is part of the GAAC’s exhibition Fiber Without Borders, and is presented without charge. Sarah Bearup-Neal, GAAC gallery manager and studio fiber artist, will facilitate the program.
