Thousands of children and adults statewide will crunch into fresh Michigan apples on Wednesday, Oct. 25, in the fifth annual Michigan Apple Crunch, sponsored by Cherry Capital Foods.

Join us the Sunday before Halloween, Oct. 29, from noon until 4 p.m., for a fun afternoon of trick or treating in downtown Glen Arbor. Dress up in your Halloween’s finest and bring the whole family for treats from participating businesses.

Do you like to play in the snow? Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore is recruiting up to two winter interns to assist with snowshoe field trips and weekend hikes. The internship will start in early January and last until mid-March. Work includes presenting curriculum-based lessons and activities on topics such as winter ecology, animal adaptations, snow science, and National Park Service mission and history.

The Glen Arbor Art Association (GAAA) Readers’ Theater will hold auditions for “Remember The Night,” Monday, October 23, 7 p.m. at the Glen Lake Community Reformed Church, 4902 W. MacFarlane Road in Burdickville. This Readers’ Theater production offers roles for 4-6 men, 4-6 women, and other miscellaneous characters. Some roles may be cast regardless of gender.

Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore is pleased to announce that they will be hosting their first-ever Teacher Workshop on Saturday, Nov. 4, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. This free workshop is open to 12 participants. Beverages, snacks, and lunches will be provided.

A Benefit Dinner & Auction will be held for Randy Weber on Saturday, Oct. 21, at St. Rita’s Hall at 9243 S. Maple City Rd. in Maple City. Randy Weber was seriously injured on Sept. 21 when a tree fell on him as he was cutting wood.

The colors are starting to change, the crispness is in the air, and the heat of summer has gone; a perfect time to celebrate the season with a few special events in October at the National Lakeshore.

Glen Arbor will hold its second annual Pumpkin Fest on Saturday, Oct. 21, from noon until 4 p.m. This celebration of fall will take place at the Township Park, giving participants time to carve their artistic creations, enjoy live music and plenty of activities and contests, followed by a Pumpkin lighting at 6 p.m.
