Authentic M-22 sign auctioned live at Library Preview Party

From staff reports

An official M-22 highway road sign will help the Friends of the Glen Lake Community Library raise funds for the Library at the Wednesday, Aug. 10 Preview Party at the Glen Arbor Township Hall beginning at 7 p.m. The sign will be one of many other items included in the Live Auction that starts at 7:30 p.m. An original Celeste Crouch watercolor, as well as first edition books and author-signed books with Michigan significance, will also be auctioned.

For those unfamiliar with the Preview Party event, there is usually a lineup at the Township Hall well in advance of the doors opening at 7 p.m. The $5 entrance to the party offers more than just the first chance to choose from the thousands of gently used hardcover and paperback books, CDs and DVDs, as well as games and puzzles. Exquisite homemade hors d’oeuvres, sweets and other refreshments help to make it a much-anticipated annual event in support of a worthwhile community cause. The Preview Party concludes at 9 p.m. Wednesday, but the doors open Thursday, Aug. 11, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. to give everyone a chance to purchase some of the thousands of items well-organized in more than 50 categories, including a great selection of children’s books. Then on Friday, from 9 a.m. to noon, the public is invited to fill a standard grocery bag with books and other items for only $5.

If you miss the annual August three-day Used Book Sale you can still find the latest titles and great classics for sale throughout the year in the library vestibule in Empire.
