Glen Lake Library holds Used Book Sale

Upcoming Event

From staff reports

The Friends of the Glen Lake Community Library will hold their annual Used Book Sale August 6-8 at the Glen Arbor Township Hall. This 3-day fundraising event offers gently used and some new books, games, and puzzles, as well as recordings. It is scheduled as follows:

Wednesday, Aug. 6, 7-9 p.m. Preview Party. $5 Donation

This special event gives you the first chance to browse and choose from thousands of hardcover and paperback books, CDs, DVDs, and games and puzzles. Refreshments include homemade hors d’oeuvres and sweets.

Thursday, August 7, 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Book Sale. Free Admission

On Thursday, the sale is open to the public free of charge. Everyone can select from various items at exceptionally reasonable prices. Books are neatly categorized into more than 50 subject areas, including many children’s books.

Friday, August 8, 9 a.m.-noon, Bag Day. Free Admission

This last half day offers the best bargains. Fill a standard grocery bag full of books and pay just $5.

For more information about the Annual Used Book Sale, please call the Library at 231-326-5361.

If you are unable to attend the event, the Friends would like to remind area residents and visitors to check out the Library vestibule for reasonably priced book selections featuring gently used book-club picks and recent titles. The choices change frequently, so there’s always something of interest for everyone. Remember, your purchase will directly benefit the Library.

Funds raised by the Friends contribute to ongoing programs, such as the preschool children’s “Stories and More,” general and special collections, as well as future capital needs of the Glen Lake Community Library. This year the Friends have underwritten the purchase of scores of DVDs to replace popular VHS tapes as well as upgrades of many audio books from cassettes to CDs.
