From staff reports

The Glen Lake Library in Empire will celebrate the upcoming National Library Week with a variety of programs and treats.

On Wednesday, April 11, at 7 pm, the library will host forester Kama Ross, of the Leelanau Conservation District. Ross will discuss the growing concerns about Oak Wilt disease and its impact on our native woodland ecosystem. Her presentation will take place at the Kasson Township Hall, at 10988 S Newman Road.

On Friday, April 13, also at 7 pm, the library will host Mardi Link, author of the popular memoirs Bootstrapper and The Drummond Girls. Mardi will present Not All Sugar & Spice: Bad Women of the Mitten, a fascinating exploration of some infamous female criminals from Michigan’s past. Her presentation will be held at the Empire Township Hall, 10088 W. Front Street.

Also, every afternoon from April 9 to 13, complimentary refreshments will be available to library visitors, courtesy of Leelanau Coffee Roasting and the Friends of the Library. For more information, contact the library at 326-5361, or visit their website: www.glenlakelibrary.net.
