Uhlmann features northern Michigan woods

Leelanau County painter Lynn Uhlmann sees the forest, and the trees, and it’s all there on her canvases. Uhlmann returns to Center Gallery in Glen Arbor for a show of her favorite subject, northern Michigan’s woods, July 20-26. A reception to open this show is Friday, July 20, 6 p.m.-sundown in the gallery at 6023 S. Lake St.

“I see my work to be a series with trees as the main subject of my paintings,” said Uhlmann, who works in both gouache and oil paint. “For the past 10 years I have returned to my favorite Leelanau County landscapes to paint. These familiar scenes evolve each time I paint them. Changes in various times of day, weather and seasons provide endless possibilities for painting. Each time I go out I observe something new.”
