Richmond channels Van Gogh

Traverse City painter Joan Richmond returns to Center Gallery with a new body of work inspired by Vincent Van Gogh’s directive to listen “to the still voice of nature.” This show of gouache paintings opens Friday, Aug. 18 with an artist’s reception, 6 p.m. Center Gallery is located at 6023 S. Lake St., Glen Arbor.

Richmond’s new work is part of a series of paintings that continue her examination of the natural world. Through on-site sketches and drawings, Richmond investigates the regional landscape’s shapes, geometries and compositions created by lake, sky and land.

The exhibition of Joan Richmond’s painting is on display until Aug. 31. Center Gallery is open daily from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. For more information call 231-334-3179.
