The Glen Arbor Players will hold auditions for their second play of the 2024 season, The Dining Room. Director Tom Webb describes the play in which seven actors portray 57 characters in a mosaic of 18 wonderful life stories-humorous, heartwarming, bittersweet, painful and touching. The play was written by A.R. Gurney and nominated for a Pulitzer Prize in 1981.

Harriett Mittelberger, director of the first play of the 2024 season for the Glen Arbor Players, is delighted to introduce her cast for the award winning play “Bus Stop,” written by William Inge. “After two very competitive auditions in Glen Arbor and Traverse City we have selected an extremely talented and experienced cast,” she said. The Performances of “Bus Stop” will be at the Glen Lake Church, 4902 W. Macfarlane, Glen Arbor at 7:30 pm on June 6-8.
The Glen Arbor Players Reader’s Theater troupe has scheduled auditions for the award-winning play “Bus Stop” by William Inge. The auditions will be held on Monday, May 6, at the Glen Lake Community Reformed Church and Tuesday, May 7, at the Old Town Playhouse in Traverse City, both at 7 pm. The play will be performed at the Glen Lake Community Reformed Church from June 6-8.
In the spirit of the Christmas season, the Glen Arbor Players will present A Christmas Carol on December 8-10 at the Glen Lake Church, 4902 West Macfarlane in Glen Arbor. Incorporating the festivity of the season and the spirit of redemption, Charles Dickens’ classic tale has never been out of print since its release in 1843. The novel proved very effective in promoting renewed enthusiasm for the joys of Christmas in both Britain and the United States.

The Glen Arbor Players will stage Oscar Wilde’s most endearing comedy, The Importance of Being Earnest, on June 23-25. Troupe co-founder, Harriett Mittelberger will direct a large and very talented cast with over 200 years of collective theatrical experience. The play takes place in London circa 1895 and has been called “A trivial comedy for serious people.” Wilde displays his wit and genius at capturing the foibles of the British upper class.
Due to inclement water this weekend, and strong demand, the Glen Arbor Players will stage an extra matinee performance on Sunday, December 12, at 2 p.m., of Elizabeth Von Armin’s treasured story, Enchanted April, which ran December 9-11.
The Glen Arbor Players will stage Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s most popular Sherlock Holmes mystery Hound of the Baskervilles October 28-30. Troupe co-founde, Harriett Mittelberger will direct a large and talented cast with 302 years of collective theatrical experience.
The Glen Arbor Players are eager to return to the stage in 2021 in front of a live audience. The troupe has developed a COVID-19 protocol that will allow them to return to the stage at a wonderful home at the Glen Lake Church community center. The Players have four talented, seasoned directors, several new thespians, a new drape background system and four diverse, entertaining plays.
The Glen Arbor Players present “A Pair of Spades,” two short plays with the archetypal detective Sam Spade at the center of all that’s criminal. Performances are Oct. 5-6, at 7:30 pm at the Glen Lake Community Reformed Church, 4902 W. MacFarlane Road, Burdickville. Admission is free; no reservations are required.
