Glen Arbor Players present added performance of “Enchanted April”
From staff reports
Due to inclement water this weekend, and strong demand, the Glen Arbor Players will stage an extra matinee performance on Sunday, December 12, at 2 p.m., of Elizabeth Von Armin’s treasured story, Enchanted April, which ran December 9-11.
Longtime local thespian and director, Jan Dalton, directs a large and talented cast who have many years of theatrical experience. The story is a comedy drama written in 1922 and starts in war torn London shortly after World War One ended. A synopsis of the play is when two proper housewives decide to rent a villa in Italy for a one-month holiday in Italy away from bleak marriages and terrible weather. They recruit two other, very different English women to share the costs. During the enchanted month in Liguria they rediscover laughter, learn new truths about themselves and find the romance they need though perhaps not what we-or-they expect to find.
As always, the Glen Arbor Players will do the production as enhanced reader’s theater, including some blocking, costuming, special sound and lighting effects. These elements make for an engaging and very entertaining experience for the audience. All shows are performed at the Glen Lake Church, 4902 W. Macfarlane Rd., on the east shore of Big Glen Lake. Admisison is free; goodwill donations are accepted and refreshments will be served.
