Rock the River fundraiser benefits The Leelanau School

The Leelanau School, a non-profit, college preparatory boarding and day school in Glen Arbor is holding its first-ever Rock the River! fundraiser, rain or shine, Friday, June 22 from 7 to 9 p.m. The show features Grand Rapids based GRUPO AYE`, a first rate, 11-piece Cuban salsa band led by Robert Mulligan, a 1983 graduate of The Leelanau School.
Following the show, attendees are invited to watch the sunset on the school’s beach on Sleeping Bear Bay and join the Beach Bards Bonfire for story-telling, poetry and more. Proceeds will help support the students and educational programs at the school, which provides five-senses, strength based programs for students who learn differently, including those with dyslexia, dyscalculia, ADD/ADHD, as well as the over- achiever seeking a more stimulating and challenging learning environment.
The school is one of the oldest establishments in Glen Arbor, with a rich history dating back to 1929.Cost is $15 in advance, $20 at the door, kids 12 and under free. BYOB, lawns chairs, blankets and picnic baskets! The event will move indoors in case of rain. Ticket donations may be made on the school website at www.leelanau.org under the Alumni and Friends>Giving>Online Giving section. Attendees should bring their printed receipt as their voucher.
