“Music on the Mountain” series at The Homestead
From staff reports
One of the summer’s great traditions at The Homestead resort north of Glen Arbor is an outdoor concert series called “Music on the Mountain.” The lineup of musical acts this year once again brings audiences the best in local folk, rock, indie and soul. Here’s a rundown of the musicians you can catch at the top of Bay Mountain.
Bugs Beddow & The Good Stuff, July 21
From Bruno Mars to Stevie Wonder, The Eagles to The Temptations, Bugs Beddow & The Good Stuff perform the best mix of feel good, shake-your-body music from the last four decades in a hot, fresh way.
The Good Stuff recently released a new version of the hit song written by the recently deceased first cousin of lead vocalist Marvin Ruffin (Jimmy Ruffin), “What Becomes Of The Brokenhearted.” Though originally from Detroit, Marvin has traveled the world over including South Korea, Japan, Australia, Spain, Italy, Sweden, Amsterdam, and England with the likes of George Benson, The Temptations, The Four Tops, Gladys Knight, Dionne Warwick, Martha Reeves, Boyz 2 Men, The Stylistics, and many others.
Levi Britton, Aug. 4
Levi Britton is an indie/folk/rock artist who hails from Traverse City. While living in Chicago, Britton co-founded Down the Line that went on to release five albums and touring with artists such as The Gin Blossoms, Pat Benatar, Peter Frampton, America, Keith Anderson and Lighthouse.
In 2011, Levi and DTL band mate Dan Myers formed Stolen Silver, releasing two albums — most recently in June 2014. Stolen Silver has recently been touring with actor Gary Sinise and The Lieutenant Dan Band, playing stadiums and military bases in support of U.S. troops and their families. In addition to playing with Stolen Silver, Britton launched his solo career in 2014. His first, solo record, Inside, was released in last year.
Crossroads Band, Aug. 18
Crossroads is a unique, all-family band that performs jazz, funk, bebop and blues. The band is made up of Paul Demick (on drums) and his four young children. With music that is exciting, joyful, fun and inspiring, their appearance on Bay Mountain this summer is sure get children dancing and parents smiling.
