Glen Lake Library holds National Library Week events

From staff reports

The Glen Lake Library in Empire will host two special presentations to help celebrate National Library Week.

On Wednesday, April 12, at 7 pm, the library will present the documentary film Nothing Like Chocolate, which profiles the Grenada Chocolate Company Cooperative. Based on fair trade practices, this tiny company presents an alternative model to the corporate chocolate industry. The film will be co-hosted by Grocer’s Daughter Chocolate of Empire, which will discuss their own Fair Trade experiences, and provide samples of their locally crafted chocolates.

On Friday, April 14, also at 7 pm, the library will host well-known local author Jerry Dennis, who will share readings and insights from his various books such as The Living Great Lakes and The River Home. Both events will take place at the Empire Township Hall, across the street from the library. Also, every afternoon from April 10 through 15, complimentary treats will be available to library visitors, courtesy of Leelanau Coffee Roasting and the Friends of the Library.
