Glen Lake Chamber holds BBQ and Brew Fest

Business Feature, Food/Organic Living, Upcoming Event

From staff reports

It’s that time of year again for the annual salute to the beginning of summer, with delicious local fare and the best of Northern Michigan microbrews.

The Glen Lake Chamber’s family-friendly BBQ and Brew summer celebration happens the third Saturday in June each year. This year the anticipated event falls on June 20, from 2 until 8 p.m.

The ever-growing celebration of summer features a variety of Michigan microbreweries, fabulous barbecued food and other great small plates from local food purveyors. In addition to craft beer, lots of great drink options are also available including nonalcoholic beverages and a wine table. From 1-4 p.m. the Brew Crew will offer great music and prize giveaways during their onsite live broadcast of ROCK 105 and THE BEAR 98.1. From 4-8 p.m. The Rick Hick’s Band returns from Muskegon to provide a flavorful mix of Blues and Motown music.

This family-friendly event is located at the corner of M-22 and Lake Street in downtown Glen Arbor — just a short walk from Lake Michigan and your favorite Glen Lake shops, restaurants, galleries and recreation. From 2:30-4:30 p.m., Painted Lady Face Art will be doing face painting. During the event, other games/activities will also be available. From 4:30-5:30 p.m., there will be a live auction, with items to bid on like an authenticated M-22 road sign, recreation packages, wine tour tickets, and locally made art.

Admission is $15 per person, which includes an all-day wristband, plus four tickets to use toward the purchase of beverages. Food vendors will be collecting cash for small or larger plates ranging from $5 to about $8. Children under 12 are free, with a reduced rate of admission for ages 13-20.

Limited volunteer opportunities are still available and include free admission to this super fun event. To volunteer, contact Katie Rabidoux at innkeeper@glenarborbnb.com.
