Glen Arbor Art Association Paint Out fills in five hours

Upcoming Event

From staff reports

It was a hectic morning last week when the Glen Arbor Art Association (GAAA) opened its online registration on March 31 for the Aug. 1 Plein Air Paint Out event. Registration opened at 9:30 a.m. and before 2 p.m. all 60 spots had filled.

“The first 20 minutes were extremely hectic and our online registration system nearly shut down with the overload of artists trying to register”, said Linda Young, event chair. “Our great office staff averted a crisis and by 2 p.m. all the spots were filled. In recent years the Saturday event registration has filled in a day and a half so this is quite a record.”

The GAAA is now taking registrations for the waiting list for members and will accept non-member waiting list registrations beginning April 3 for the Aug. 1 Paint Out. “We do our best to accommodate artists on the waiting list as the summer progresses,” said Young.

There are still openings for the Thursday, July 30 Sundowner painting event and for the July 31 Glen Arbor Quick Draw. These events do not require advance registration and there is no limit as to the number of participants. For more information visit www.glenarborart.org.

The GAAA Plein Air Art Weekend, now in its seventh year, is scheduled for July 30-August 1. Each year the event attracts artists from across Michigan and throughout the Midwest. Now in its seventh year, the GAAA event has become one of Michigan’s largest, and most popular, Plein Air festivals.
