Cottage Book Shop offers books to needy children

Business Feature, Talk of the Town

The Cottage Book Shop in Glen Arbor reports that, through a generous response to a local book drive facilitated by the Friends of the Glen Lake Community Library, new books will be given to over 240 needy local children this holiday season. But if you haven’t yet participated, the bookshop still has over 50 books — especially for preschoolers. Call the Cottage Book Shop at (231) 334-4223 or email (info AT cottagebooks DOT com) before the end of the week to participate in this meaningful effort.

The Cottage Book Shop will kindly provide a 20-percent discount on any books purchased for this program, which is now in its 12th year. The bookshop will even gift wrap and deliver the books to us for you. Last year, just over 220 books were donated. The list grows longer every year, and every year our community steps up and gets every book needed for the children on the list. Any family can find themselves in hard times, and the goal is to make sure that children still have some holiday joy in the form of a special book. The list is available at the Glen Lake Community Library in Empire and at the Cottage Book Shop. Donors are asked to purchase a book for a child on this list and deliver it gift-wrapped to the library by Friday, Dec. 11.
