Get our (COVID) shot at Art’s on Cinco de Mayo
From staff reports
Art’s Tavern in Glen Arbor is a go-to spot for burgers, beers and—if you’re in the mood—shots of liquor.
On Wednesday, May 5, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. it’s also a great spot to receive free COVID-19 vaccination shots. No appointments are necessary. Staff from the Benzie-Leelanau District Health Department will be on hand to administer Moderna and Johnson & Johnson shots to anyone age 18 or older under Art’s outdoor 15 x 50-foot tent across M-22 from the Post Office.
“We’re really in favor of the vaccine,” said Art’s owner Tim Barr. “We wish more people would get it.”
“The COVID vaccines are good way to stay alive. We’d rather have live patrons than going to a funeral.”
Since May 5 is also Cinco de Mayo, Tim invites vaccine recipients to don their mask and enjoy a margarita before or after they get their shot.
The Health Department has also scheduled pop-up vaccine clinics in the middle of Leelanau County on Wednesday—from 2:30-4:30 pm at Blue Moon Ice Cream Shop in Cedar, and from 5-7 pm at Broomstack Kitchen and Taphouse in Maple City.
Last Thursday, April 29, vaccines were administered at the Leland Mercantile and Hansen Foods and Hop Lot in Suttons Bay.
