Art’s Tavern
Art’s Tavern has been located at the corner of Lake Street and M22 is some form or another since before prohibition. Originally called the Blue Goose Saloon when run by Frank Sheridan, it was renamed by Frank’s son Art when he took over after his father’s accidental electrocution in 1934. Art saw the tavern through many good times until 1950 when an electrical fire burned the tavern down. In July 2000, Tim bought the operation and wisely retained the name Art’s. Art’s is open seven days a week, 360 days a year, serving up good times and great food. Art’s proudly remains a “quaint piece of schlock” in an increasingly generic world.

Please read this excerpt from our story, “Art’s gets rooftop solar panels” which ran in the Glen Arbor Sun on Jan. 5, 2018:
Art’s owners Tim Barr and Bonnie Nescot initially began thinking about installing solar panels after talking with the late Don Lessard, a local solar energy champion and founder of miPHOTON. For Tim Barr, as for many homeowners who are springing for solar, the decision is economic as much as it is moral. “We pull so much from Consumer’s Energy that even this 15 percent we’re using ourselves will save us a lot,” said Barr. “We’ve living in an oil bubble right now. Prices are down, but we’ve seen that go in cycles over the years.”
