Cherry Republic celebrates Michigan Wine Month during May

,

From staff reports

Cherry Republic will raise a glass to Michigan’s wine industry throughout the month of May by celebrating its wide selection of cherry wines with special tasting events at each of its retail locations. Special volume pricing on wine (10 percent off quartets and 20 percent off cases) is also available.

Cherry Republic’s wines start with only fresh-pressed juice — including locally grown Balaton and Montmorency tart cherries. The company offers 16 wines and ciders ranging from 100 percent cherry wines to grape and cherry blends, sparkling wine, port, ice wine, pinot noir, and hard cider made with apples sourced exclusively from farms on the Old Mission Peninsula.

“We use the best fruit, harvest it at the right time, and immediately make it into wine,” explains vice president of sales, Jason Homa. “The result is a nicely balanced wine that perfectly blends tartness and sweetness.”

Cherry Republic’s Michigan Wine Month events include the Spring Sip & Savor event at the flagship Glen Arbor store on May 5, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and May 6, from noon to 5 p.m. featuring Cherry Sangria and Cherryaki Chicken Lettuce Wraps. Tickets are available through the Leelanau Peninsula Wine Trail. In the Traverse City store, Wine Month Happy Hours are May 4, 11 and 18 from 3-5 p.m. featuring free wine tasting and specially paired appetizers.
