The Friends of Fishtown celebrate the 10th year of the annual Fishtown 5K on Saturday, July 21, at 9 a.m. In honor of this they’ve declared 2018 “The Year of the Tug.” In addition to the usual medals given at the 5K, specific medals will be given for best fish tug costumes as well as the first three tugs to cross the finish line.
The morning heat was starting to sizzle as I escaped into the shade of the woods. I was just south of Suttons Bay on the TART trail pedaling north towards a dunk in the lake and a hearty breakfast. Ann Arbor-based Sleeping Bear Press has published a children’s picture book titled Nature’s Friend: The Gwen Frostic Story. The author, St. Paul, Minn.-based Lindsey McDivitt, has been promoting the book this month with appearances in Traverse City and Petoskey.
The 48th annual Glen Lake Woman’s Club Art Fair will take place on July 18 from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the Glen Arbor Township Hall. There is no admission charge. The event hosts 100 artists to represent most areas of the art world. Lunch is available including “walking tacos”.
