Tis the season for PJ Party, tree lighting and holiday marketplaces

Business Feature, Upcoming Event

From staff reports

It’s here again. A Glen Arbor original, “better than a bustling city’s Black Friday,” our version of the day-after-Thanksgiving shopping, is the annual PJ party, on Friday morning, Nov. 28, from 5-8 a.m.

Shop the downtown district stores in your pajamas for extra special discounts and fun. Come shop, dine and stay overnight in the Glen Lake area. Participating downtown merchants include: Becky Thatcher Jewelry, Arts Tavern, Cherry Republic, the Cyclery, Cottage Book Shop, Lake Affect Store, Leelanau Coffee Roasters, M-22 Glen Arbor, Northwoods Hardware, the Sportsman Shop, the Totem Shop, Wildflowers and Hatlem Churchill.

Later that day, join the community on Friday evening at 6:30 p.m. for the annual Tree Lighting ceremony and caroling at the Glen Arbor Township Hall. Art’s Tavern will serve homemade cider and donuts. Then stay afterward for the Holiday Marketplace Preview Party in the Town Hall from 7-8 p.m. for local artisan gifts and shopping.

Bring the kiddies back on Saturday, Nov. 29, between 10:30 and 3 to meet Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus in the Town Hall during the Holiday Marketplace. This annual community event features a variety of artisans showcasing different types of gifts/work, with an emphasis on local and handmade products/artworks. This is a great opportunity to support local artisans and shop for yourself and for the holidays.

Glen Arbor holds its holiday marketplace from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Riverfront Deli will sell refreshments and lunch. Meanwhile, Empire holds its Artisans Market also on Saturday, Nov. 29, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
