The Bay Community Theatre is launching a new live entertainment series in downtown Suttons Bay called “Live at the Bay,” with the inaugural Fall 2024 season featuring artists from across Michigan and the United States, including renowned a cappella, comedy, live film accompaniment, and jazz/blues performances.

The Bay Theatre in Suttons Bay will show Saving the Barn, a locally produced short film on the history, preservation, and future of the Leelanau County Poor Farm/County Infirmary. The screening is free and open to the public on Sunday, August 4 at 1 pm. The documentary is a multi-year project of the Leelanau County Historic Preservation Society (LCHPS) and was broadcast by WCMU Public Television in March. Following the 26-minute film, Norm Wheeler musician/storyteller and (narrator of the documentary) will moderate a panel discussion.

Interlochen Public Radio news director Peter Payette will sit down to talk with with founder Larry Mawby and current owners Mike and Peter Laing.
The Bay Community Theatre in Suttons Bay announced in a press release that it has hired Graham Powers as its new general manager. Powers comes to “The Bay” from Fort Wayne, Indiana, bringing with him five years’ experience in both hospitality management and operations management, most recently within the Parkview Health System.
Join The Bay Theatre in Suttons Bay on July 21 at 7:30 p.m. for a screening of Galaxy Quest. During this special event, The Bay plans to launch its next fundraising campaign. This fundraiser will allow for The Bay to replace its 76-year-old seats with brand new, updated seats that still have that vintage aesthetic. These seats will be built and designed by Michigan’s own Irwin Seating Company. The one and only Leelanau County resident and actor Tim Allen will be your host. Allen will be onstage prior to the screening to answer questions, give away autographed merchandise, and reveal the sample of our new seats.
