Steve and Jennifer Nowicki opened Shipwreck Cafe in June of 2017. They wanted to bring a new, alternative dining choice to Empire, the Gateway to the Sleeping Bear Dunes. Celebrate wood—the material, the place, the state of mind—at the opening reception for “Wood, Woods, Wooden,” the Glen Arbor Arts Center’s (GAAC) second exhibition of 2019, on Friday, March 8, from 6-8 p.m. in the GAAC gallery, located at 6031 S. Lake St. in Glen Arbor.

Registration for the 11th annual M22 Challenge will open on March 1 at 8 a.m. The Challenge, which takes place June 8, capitalizes on the majestic landscape and waterscape of the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore.

Make 2019 the year of kid creativity. The Glen Arbor Arts Center (GAAC) offers two programs for kids in pre-school up to eighth grade at the GAAC, which is located at 6031 S. Lake St., in Glen Arbor.

The public has the right to walk the Great Lakes shoreline, even along privately owned beaches. The United States Supreme Court reaffirmed that right on Tuesday. The court declined to hear an Indiana case filed by riparian land owners who live along the south shore of Lake Michigan.
