Sleeping Bear Heritage Trail transitions to spring

Talk of the Town

From staff reports

Kerry Kelly, chairman of Friends of Sleeping Bear Dunes, reports on Sunday, March 16, that grooming on the Sleeping Bear Heritage Trail is probably over for the year. It was a great year for skiing, but the warm weather and rain followed by freezing left us with an ice rink.

Word from the grooming crew is that the trail is very icy and they will not be able to groom again unless we get at least 4 inches of fresh snow — which appears unlikely, as temperatures will surpass 30 degrees all this week.
