Artist-in-residence Jim Markle speaks at Glen Arbor Art Association
Pastel painter Jim Markle is the current artist-in-residence at the Glen Arbor Art Association (GAAA). The Grand Rapids artist will talk about his residency on Thursday, Sept. 26, at 7:30 p.m. at the GAAA. This presentation is open to the public.
During his residency, Markle will work to capture on canvas a sense of the area’s uniquely beautiful landscape. This kind of focused work requires long stretches of uninterrupted time, which is the essence of the GAAA Artist-in-Residence program.
Markle retired in 1994 from a career as an executive in advertising and publishing to paint full-time. He travels and paints en plein air throughout the United States and Europe. And he is the inventor of the “Jim Markle Pastel Easelbox.” For more information about the artist, visit JimMarkle.com, or call the GAAA at (231) 334-6112.
