Results from Glen Arbor Solstice Half Marathon

Philip Stead, a 30-year-old runner from Ann Arbor won the inaugural Glen Arbor Solstice Half Marathon on Saturday, June 16, with a time of just under 1 hour 20 minutes. When he’s not running, Stead writes children’s books. In fact, Philip and his wife Erin’s book A Sick Day for Amos McGee won this year’s prestigious Caldecott Award for the best Illustrated chidren’s Book of the year.

Krista Scott, 34, from Lake Ann, was the top female marathoner with a time of just under 1 hour 40 minutes. Meanwhile, in the 5K Run/Walk, 15-year-old Zane Brooks from Frankfort took the gold with a time of just under 18 minutes, and 33-year-old Kathryn Murphy of Northport won the women’s 5K.

“The highlight for me was the turnout,” said race organizer Joel Gaff. “We had almost 450 people register for the two races. We had great support from neighbors and from the fire department, and a nice mix of locals and entrants from out of town.”
