Old Settlers Picnic Grounds hosts July 4 Flag Raising

Come One, Come All to the community July 4 Flag Raising program in honor of the 241st birthday of America’s adoption of the Declaration of Independence, to be held Tuesday, July 4, at Old Settlers Picnic Grounds. This patriotic tradition has been organized by the Glen Lake Woman’s Club since 1970.

The Flag Raising program starts at 10 a.m. with an invocation delivered by Pastor Russell Logsden of the Empire United Methodist Church. Boy Scout Troop 105 will perform the flag raising and lead the Pledge of Allegiance. The voices of the Summer Singers chorus will lead the community in singing the National Anthem and other patriotic songs. The keynote speaker will be Laurel Jeris, a member of the Glen Lake Woman’s Club.

Children will receive a flag and cookies and lemonade.

Old Settlers Picnic Grounds is located on the southeastern shore of Big Glen Lake, near the corner of Dunns Farm Road (CR675) and Burdickville Road (CR 616).
