News

From staff reports

The opening reception for the 29th annual Art Leelanau benefit art exhibition and sale takes place at the Old Art Building in Leland on Friday, July 23, from 5-8 p.m. The show highlights the work of more than 80 artists with connections to Leelanau County and covers a range a mediums. Proceeds support both the Leelanau Community Cultural Center’s (LCCC) general operations fund and the many artists who live full or part-time in Leelanau County. The exhibit will continue through Wednesday, July 28.

The opening reception is a ticketed event with live music, a full bar, and gourmet picnic options by Island Thyme Catering. Tickets are available online or by calling the Old Art Building at (231) 256-2131. Tickets will also be available at the door but will not guarantee a picnic.

LCCC members who purchase tickets to this event will receive early access, offering the opportunity to view and purchase artwork one hour before other ticket holders. Click here to join the LCCC membership program .

The artwork for this year’s poster will feature “Spring at Clay Cliffs” by Kristin MacKenzie Hussey, who won the best of show at the “Leland Air” event over Memorial Weekend. 20 x 20 prints of Kristin’s piece for Art Leelanau 2021 are available for purchase through LCCC’s online store and at the Art Leelanau event. The artist will be on site from 5-7 p.m. the night of the reception to sign prints.
For additional information, call the Old Art Building at (231) 256-2131.
