Leelanau Reads with Nita Prose

Upcoming Event

From staff reports

The four public libraries of Leelanau County are pleased to host Nita Prose on Saturday, May 17, at 7 pm at the Glen Lake Schools Auditorium. She will discuss her first book, The Maid. Prose has authored a sequel, novella, and a third book in the The Maid series, “The Maid’s Secret,” which was released in April. She will be interviewed by guest host Sarah Bearup-Neal of the Glen Arbor Arts Center.

Copies of The Maid will be available for purchase at the event thanks to Cottage Book Shop. This free event is open to all, no pre-registration required. Doors open at 6 pm. Seats are first come, first serve. Please contact your local Leelanau County library with any questions.

This author event is part of Leelanau Reads community reading program. During the annual Leelanau Reads program, county residents are encouraged to come together in a shared reading experience. This year’s book pick is Prose’s The Maid, a Clue-like, locked-room mystery and a heartwarming journey of the spirit that explores what it means to be the same as everyone else and yet entirely different—and reveals that all mysteries can be solved through connection to the human heart. Copies of the book are available to borrow from your local library and to purchase at your local bookseller. Each library will host a discussion of the book, open to all readers, in advance of the author event.

Book Discussions will be held on the following dates:

May 8 at 2 pm at Suttons Bay Bingham District Library.

May 13 at 11 am at Glen Lake Community Library.

May 14 at 1:30 pm at Leelanau Township Library.

May 15 at 10 am and 2 pm Leland Township Library (meetings held at Leland Community United Methodist Church due to ongoing construction).

This event is sponsored by Glen Lake Community Library, Leland Township Library, Leelanau Township Library, and Suttons Bay Bingham District Library with generous support from each library’s Friends of the Library group, the Northland Library Cooperative and the Mid-Michigan Library League.
