Leelanau County Sheriff holds free boater safety class

The Leelanau County Sheriff’s Office will hold a boater safety class on Saturday, June 22, from 8 am-4 pm at the County Court House at E. Government Center Drive, west of Suttons Bay. The class is for boaters at least 12 years old by the end of the boating season. Registration and the class begins at 8 am. The course is free. Adults are also welcome. Bring a sack lunch and a water bottle. Course materials will be provided at no cost.

Those born on or after July 1, 1996, may operate a boat legally only if they have been issued a boater safety certificate and have it on board the boat they are operating.
