Leelanau Conservancy, Leland Old Art Building host Earth Week events

The Leelanau Conservancy and Old Art Building in Leland have planned a week of dynamic events for Earth Week 2023. Scroll down for more information and links to sign up.

Every year the Leelanau Conservancy hosts Earth Week, which includes a series of fun and free events that are open to the public. There are hikes, volunteer opportunities, social events and an end of the week concert at Tandem Ciders. Sign up to volunteer, join the 35 years for 35 miles trail challenge, or become a member.

Tuesday 4/18, 4:30 pm: Palmer Woods Trail Crew Kickoff

Join the Palmer Woods Trail Crew for their first event of the season. Learn about the regular mountain bike trail maintenance work & how the Conservancy keeps these trails safe for riding all season long. Stick around for some camaraderie & refreshments. Sign up here.

Wednesday 4/19: 35 Miles for 35 Years Trail Challenge

More than 400 people have already signed up to complete this trail challenge in honor of the Conservancy’s 35th year. Sign up here.

Thursday 4/20, 3 pm: Spring Trail Prep/Habitat Restoration Workbee

The Conservancy will spread wood chips and do general trail maintenance. All tools will be provided. Sign up here.

Friday 4/21, 3 pm: Hike & Conservation Easement Talk at 45 North Winery

Join Conservancy and 45 North Staffers on a hike at the protected winery. 45 North forever protected their winery with a private conservation easement (CE). Come for the hike, stay for wine and cheese. Five percent of sales will be donated to the Conservancy. Sign up here.

Saturday 4/22, 10 am : Docent Guided Easy-paced Hike at DeYoung

Come join Conservancy Docents for an April walk at DeYoung Natural Area where transitions abound. This is a slower-paced walk but be aware that it does include a gentle altitude gain. Sign up here.

Sunday 4/23, 3 pm: Earth Week Celebration Concert with Jack Pine at Tandem Ciders  

Celebrate Earth Week with friends, live music from Jack Pine, and local cider. All ages welcome, no cover. Sign up here.

Wednesday 4/19, 3:30 pm: David Milarch of Archangel Tree Archive

Come listen to third generation nurseryman, David Milarch of Archangel Ancient Tree Archive (AATA), talk about growing up working on his father’s tree farm.

Friday 4/21, 5-7 pm: Screening of “The Biggest Little Farm”

Free movie screening of “The Biggest little Farm”: a beautiful story that chronicles the eight-year quest of John and Molly Chester as they trade city living for 200 acres of barren farmland.

Saturday 4/22, 1-4 pm:  Watercolor Journal Workshop

Join artist Alyssa Smith for a unique three-hour workshop geared towards developing the art of seeing everyday beauty around you.
