League of Women Voters Leelanau County examines income inequality

Upcoming Event

From staff reports

The League of Women Voters Leelanau County Big Picture Society will be held at the Old Art Building at 111 Main Street in Leland on Monday, March 9, at 4 p.m. The Big Picture Society features films of public interest on current political/environmental and/or social justice topics on the second Monday of the month from October through June.

This month’s movie exposes the heart of an economic problem that has been getting worse and worse for over 30 years. The problem is widening inequality. The 89-minute documentary follows former U.S. Labor Secretary Robert Reich as he looks to raise awareness of the country’s widening economic gap. The film won a Special Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival and the Traverse City Film Festival 2013 Award for Best Documentary Film.

There is no fee for the movie but good will donations to the LWVLC will be accepted. You may bring refreshments to share. For more information call 231-409-9339 or visit lwvleelanau.org.
