Lake Leelanau Community Association holds 11th annual Lake Leelanau Holiday Arts & Crafts Show

Upcoming Event

From staff reports

The Lake Leelanau Community Association (LLCA) announced the 11th annual Lake Leelanau Holiday Arts and Crafts Show to be held at St. Mary’s School in Lake Leelanau on Saturday, Dec. 2, from 10 am to 3 pm. St. Mary’s school is located at 303 St. Mary Street, just off M204 (Duck Lake Road) in the heart of Lake Leelanau with plenty of parking adjacent to the building.

“This year’s show features over 40 artists displaying a wide assortment of beautiful artwork and handcrafted items for sale. And we are excited to welcome back several local musicians who will play throughout the event,” said Madeline Houdek, LLCA Vice Chair. “Ben Duperon opens playing favorite carols on piano putting everyone in the Christmas spirit, followed by the Suttons Bay Celtics who perform at 10, the Leelanau Flute Ensemble at 11:30 and concluding with the Prevailing Winds at 1:”

Last year the show invited a few non-profit groups to participate in the art fair. “This year we have created a ‘Family Corner’ hosted by non-profits providing information of interest to families with lots of activities for kids,” said Patricia Soutas-Little, chairperson of the holiday arts and crafts event. “PoWeR Book Bags, Leelanau Christian Neighbors, 4-H, and other community-based organizations will engage young children with fun and creative entertainment along with a few gifts while they await the arrival of Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus at 1 pm in the Family Corner.”

Food and baked goods are available for purchase from Fiddleheads, Hannah’s and Sweeties, plus new this year is a hot cocoa bar with tasty toppings tempting fair goers.

All proceeds from the art and crafts fair support community beautification projects in Lake Leelanau. The Holiday Committee invite you to come meet the artists and find that perfect special holiday gift for friends and for everyone in your family—from the youngest member to the oldest.
