Fountain Point Resort features Eric Taylor

From staff reports

The Lake Leelanau Rowing Club is delighted to host a benefit performance by the legendary Texas singer/songwriter, Eric Taylor. The performance will be held Monday, August 4, at 8 p.m. at the Fountain Point Resort in Lake Leelanau.

Fountain Point Resort began showcasing music last summer with some great shows there. This year, the Lake Leelanau Rowing Club and Fountain Point are continuing to bring music to its unique setting on the banks of Lake Leelanau where folks can come and picnic prior to a show … and/or walk about the grounds and or just sit at the water’s edge and enjoy the evening light as the sun fades in the western sky. It makes for memorable summer night.

Taylor is a sage musician, a lyrical genius and a master of the guitar. If you’re familiar with the intricate Texas singer/songwriter jigsaw puzzle, you probably already know a lot about Taylor. If you’re not familiar with Taylor by name, you’ve probably heard his songs performed by people such as Nanci Griffith and Lyle Lovett. He has created a multitude of fans and devotees that are legends themselves in the singer/songwriter realm, artists who have long considered Taylor to be a teacher and a lantern bearer whose time is long overdue.

He is indeed a master of this craft of songwriting. His albums are like novels, where each song is just a chapter of that novel. Songs are full of characters and moments of life that he frames within a song. Songs that are always thoughtful, and provocative for all who take the time to listen.

Nanci Griffith, Lyle Lovett, Steve Earle are all believers in the “Taylor Touch”—the touch of a master who creates songs that touch the heart of every audience.

Tickets cost $20 in advance and $25 at the door. They’re available at Fountain Point Resort or the RedHeads Café in Lake Leelanau, or in Traverse City at Oryana Food Coop or Brilliant Books. For more information call Fountain Point at 231-256-9800.
