Habitat for Humanity Fundraiser Mother’s Day Brunch at The Leelanau School

Upcoming Event

By Norm Wheeler

The Habitat for Humanity Fundraiser Mother’s Day Brunch will again be held at The Leelanau School on Sunday, May 8, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. The National Honor Societies of Glen Lake and Leelanau School will again host the event, and Jim Bristol is again The Chef.

We are again soliciting contributions to help us pay for the food. Businesses who contribute checks (made out to “Leelanau School”) will have their logos on the poster and will receive a receipt for a contribution to a nonprofit. Art’s Tavern, Grocer’s Daughter Chocolate, the Cottage Bookshop, Crystal River Outfitters/M-22 Store and Riverfront have already made pledges.

We will also have a silent auction this year, and Boonedocks, Crystal River Outfitters/M-22 Store, Grocer’s Daughter Chocolate and Art’s Tavern have agreed to contribute gift certificates as well. Please let me know if you’d also like to go that route, and I can come around next week and collect them. We’ll need to know the value of each gift certificate so that we can get you a receipt. I will continue to call around for monetary contributions as well, and I’d like to thank you all in advance for any help that you can give us.

This community has always been very generous and supportive of this annual fundraiser, and we expect to serve 400-500 people on Mother’s Day and then send the proceeds to help Habitat for Humanity build another home for a local family.

For more information contact Norm Wheeler, (231) 334-5890 or email nwheeler(AT)leelanau.org.
