Glen Arbor Art Association Readers Theater presents Notorious
From staff reports
Glen Arbor Art Association’s “Readers’ Theater” begins its 2013-2014 season with a tour de force production of Notorious, directed by veteran actor, director and co-chair of Readers’ Theater, Josephine Zara, and featuring the area’s talented thespians. “The fun and the satisfaction for me in directing at Readers’ Theater is in witnessing the tremendous growth of our community actors’ skills.” she says.
Notorious, a 1948 screenplay written by Ben Hecht and directed by Alfred Hitchcock in his classic style, is a post-war psychological espionage thriller interwoven with romantic intrigue. The dark, intricate plot is thematically concerned with political (and sexual) betrayal, and issues of trust, friendship and duty embodied in the characters’ relationships. Readers’ Theater is presenting The Lux Radio Theater’s adaptation of the Notorious film script.
The Glen Arbor Art Association has promoted artists and the arts in Leelanau County since 1981. Since it’s beginning in 2011, Readers’ Theater has become an eagerly anticipated winter diversion playing, to a packed house at every performance.
Performances will be at the Glen Arbor Art Association on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 18-19 at 7 p.m., and a matinee on Sunday, Oct. 20 at 3 p.m.
Goodwill offerings will be accepted at the performances. To reserve your free general seating ticket, contact The Glen Arbor Art Association at (231) 334-6112 or by emailing office@glenarborart.org.
