Photographer Jim Jacoby of Livonia, begins his artist-in-residency with the Glen Arbor Art Association June 2. Jacoby will focus on the region’s special natural features — from the dunes in pre-dawn and dusk hours to other ecosystems off the beaten path.

Jacoby’s approach to capturing natural images is based on patiently waiting for the right moment to release the shutter. “Our goal,” he said, “is not to dazzle the viewer with our software prowess, imagination or digital skills.”

A public presentation of Jacoby’s work is Thursday, June 13, at 7:30 p.m. at the Art Association, 6031 S. Lake St., across from Cherry Republic, in Glen Arbor. The artist will talk about his two-week residency and take questions. For more information call (231) 334-6112.
