Genuine Leelanau Fall Family Fun Day

From staff reports

Quickly becoming a Leelanau family tradition, Genuine Leelanau’s Family Fun Day will be held Sunday, Oct. 9 from 1-3 p.m. in Maple City.

The kids love to walk through the Haunted Forest, enjoy a Pony Ride, jump around in the Bouncy House or get their face painted. There will be hot dogs, “walking tacos” and plenty of desserts for everyone. Halloween costumes are encouraged!

Kid’s Admission is FREE with one or more non-perishable food items to be donated to Blessings in a Backpack. Adult Admission $10. (please, no drop offs)

The event will be held, rain or shine, at 7850 S. Shimek Rd, Maple City.

Blessings in a Backpack, is a nonprofit dedicated to feeding area school children on weekends throughout the school year, providing healthy and nutritious foods packed each week in the child’s very own backpack “to go.” Suitable items include boxed meals and canned stews, canned fruit, energy bars, and peanut butter.

What is Genuine Leelanau? We are a tiny nonprofit with a focus on improving the quality of life for our local kids and families. We raise funds and return them wholly into our great little Leelanau community. Specifically, we have most recently funded the Leelanau Laundry Project, Art for Migrant Children Program, Leelanau Christian Neighbors’ Personal Care/Hygeine Products Project, Leelanau Parenting Commmunities, Doula Teen Parent Project, Exposures celebrating printed art of Leelanau school children, and the Michigan Land Use Institute’s Farm to School Food Corps Program. We are Genuine and we are Leelanau. With your help we’ve sustained and supported programs in our community for over 30 years. “Small and mighty,” we are!
