Empire unveils wireless Internet access
The Village of Empire will go wireless later this week. The town’s new WiFi infrastructure will be featured at a kick-off celebration this Thursday at 1 p.m. at the downtown open space next to the Post Office.
The service will cover most of M22 & Front Street as well as the Beach and will be available to village residents as well as visitors. People will be able to use the service for free for 15 minutes each day, or pay for use by the day, the week or the month.
The $20,000 dollar price tag to start the WiFi service was covered by a grant from the Northwest Michigan Council of Governments, according to Paul Skinner.
