Empire Area Museum celebrates heritage day

From staff reports

The Empire Area Museum Complex celebrates Heritage Day at the museum on Saturday Oct. 12 from 1-4 p.m.

Special features this year include a fantastic collection of hand made Faberge type eggs made in Empire in the 1970s by Helen Witt. A must see.

Also a collection of model school busses made from cardboard by former local Ted Pelky. Remarkable detail in each model.

Vintage cars, tractors, hit and miss engines, bicycles and much more fill the grounds around the museum along with old fashion craft and food demonstrations making this a fun filled afternoon for the whole family. A live blacksmith demonstration will thrill the children as well as many other live demonstrations.

Enjoy our woodworking shop, blacksmith shop, turn of the century saloon, one room school, fire house and barn filled with all kinds of horse drawn equipment. Historic walking tours of the village will take place during the afternoon. Historic music of all kinds will fill the air for your enjoyment.

The Glen Lake Fire Department will be holding an OPEN HOUSE next door to the museum for your inspection.

Please bring the whole family and help us celebrate our 41th Anniversary
