Artist in Residence Connie Cronewett presents at Glen Arbor Art Association
From staff reports
Painter Connie Cronenwett of Dexter is the current Glen Arbor Art Association (GAAA) artist-in-residence. A public presentation of her work and experiences is Thursday, Oct. 24, 7:30 p.m. at the Art Association, 6031 S. Lake St. (Studio Lane), Glen Arbor.
“I am eager to begin painting a series of dune landscapes based on the area,” said Cronenwett, who works primarily in oil and pastel. It’s a familiar subject to which she returns. In past works, she’s focused on beach vegetation and light on the dunes. During her GAAA residency, Cronenwett wants to depict in more detail the continuously changing aspects of light, space and shadow playing on the dunes. She is participating in a major exhibition in 2014 “and would like it to be composed of paintings begun during this residency,” Cronenwett said.
In addition to a full-time studio practice, Cronenwett is an artist-owner of the WSG gallery in Ann Arbor. For more information, please call the Art Association, (231) 334-6112.
