Cherry Republic to hold holiday hiring event Nov. 8

News

Glen Arbor company needs 200 workers at Empire distribution and fulfillment center

From staff reports

Cherry Republic plans to hire as many as 200 “elves” to help pack and mail approximately 70,000 gift boxes at its Empire distribution and fulfillment center this holiday season. The company will hold a holiday hiring event from 2-6 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 8, at its Empire warehouse, located at 9876 Fisher Street.

Pickers, packers and fillers are needed for approximately four to six weeks, starting in mid-November and running through Christmas. Wages will start at $11/hour. Gift boxes are packed 7 days a week with flexibility in shifts offered, according to Human Resources manager Kelli Stepka.

“We had an unbelievable turnout at our hiring event last year, and we’re hoping to get the same kind of response this season,” Stepka said. “We’ve streamlined the process a bit, so this year applicants won’t have to worry about filling out lots of paperwork on the spot. We ask that interested people fill out an application online, bring it with them to the event and then plan on a quick 5-minute interview at the event.”

She pointed out that students, retirees, or anyone interested in making extra holiday cash are ideal candidates and notes that all employees receive 25 percent off Cherry Republic products during the holiday season. Both new and returning seasonal employees are urged to attend to make sure they get their name “on the list,” Stepka said.

For more information, applicants can email Stepka at HR@CherryRepublic.com or call 231-334-3150, ext. 2215.
