Cherry Public House in Glen Arbor will close for approximately six weeks beginning on Monday, Nov. 2, as the restaurant/brewery staff helps support the holiday packing needs of retailer Cherry Republic.
The entire staff of the Cherry Public House will be working as a team at Cherry Republic’s new distribution center on M-72 in Traverse City during the month of November and into December as the cherry retailer prepares for what they expect to be an extra busy holiday season.
“With many people not being able to travel home for the holidays, we’re expecting to ship an even larger volume of gift boxes than normal this year,” explained Cherry Republic President Bob Sutherland. “Add that to what is already our busiest time of year for mail order, and we realized we needed to shift some of our staff to different roles for a short time to make sure we’re covered.”
Sutherland noted that this isn’t the first time that Cherry Republic employees have stepped up to fill a need. Two years ago, staff from marketing, sales, human resources, and finance filled bags of chocolate-covered cherries at the company’s Cherry Factory in Empire during a particularly busy summer season.
“I’m so proud of how everyone pitches in for the greater good of Cherry Republic. We really are a family,” Sutherland added.
Cherry Republic’s retail store in Glen Arbor will remain open for shopping.
