Center Gallery features Jim Markle

Upcoming Event

From staff reports

Grand Rapids artist Jim Markle exhibits new views of the Sleeping Bear Dunes and Glen Arbor, Aug. 22-28 at Center Gallery, 6023 S. Lake St. in Glen Arbor. A reception opens the show Aug. 22 at 6 p.m.

Markle began pastel painting this iconic landscape a decade ago. “I spend a lot of time exploring the environment for interesting compositions and lighting conditions,” he said. Markle typically paints in early morning or late afternoon “when low sun creates very interesting light and color in the environment.” Markle makes plein air studies in the field, which he finishes in his Grand Rapids studio.
