The Polish Art Center in Cedar is offering pisanki egg decorating classes on the next three Sundays between now and Easter. The art of egg decorating is a treasured Polish tradition each spring.
Learn how to decorate a traditional Eastern European-style Easter egg using the batik method. Classes last from 10 a.m.-noon, cost $20 per student and are limited to participants only. Click here to register.
“I have been doing this craft myself since I was about seven years old,” said Kathleen Koch, whose family owns the Polish Art Center locations in Cedar and Hamtramck, a traditionally Polish neighborhood of Detroit. The Hamtramck shop has offered these annual egg decorating classes for nearly 30 years. This is the third spring of classes at the Cedar location.
