Cedar Maple City Lions Club hold Aug. 27 benefit for Joe Flowers

The Cedar Maple City Lions Club and La Becasse are hosting a benefit dinner on Sunday, Aug. 27, from 4-7 p.m. for Maple City local Joe Flowers, who is battling a rare blood clotting disorder and Crone’s Disease. The suggested donation is $15 and includes a French-themed grilled chicken dinner, roasted vegetables, salad, sweet corn, sides and a silent auction.

Proceeds will help Joe, his wife Kim and their 1 1/2 year-old son Jonah cover the cost of Joe’s medical expenses. The event is dubbed “French love for our Joe”. Flowers worked for years at La Becasse; in fact, it was his first job at age 14. Flowers lost a tremendous amount of weight during his stay under medical care but his hopefully on the mend.
