The League of Women Voters Leelanau County (LWVLC) will host government and public policy educator John Amrhein at noon on Wednesday, Nov. 6 in the Leelanau County Government Center. His presentation topic is “Understanding County Government: Its Structure and Authority”. Does county government have you totally stymied? In 45 minutes you will be provided an overview of the history of Michigan county government, its unique structure and how it is intended to work.

Amrhein is with the Michigan State University Extension Service and has been a co-leader of Extension’s governmental education programs since 1998. He teaches and consults on topics related to quality governance with local and tribal governments across the state, with a focus on northern lower Michigan.

The public is invited. Many people bring a sack lunch. LWVLC business meeting to follow presentation.
