The Bay Area Transportation Authority (BATA) has launched a new mobile app that allows riders to easily pay for the bus directly from their smart phones. Mobile tickets are valid for any of BATA’s fixed route City and Village Loop systems as well as its demand-response Link service.

The Leelanau County Transit Alliance, a new community-based initiative to engage Leelanau County residents, businesses and organizations to identify unmet public transportation needs, will hold a community forum on Sept. 18 at the Leelanau County Government Center.

Dozens of policy experts, elected officials, advocates and citizens are embarking on a three-day Michigan Transportation Odyssey that started Wednesday in Detroit, is snaking through West Michigan and concludes Friday in Traverse City. The group, led by the Transportation for Michigan (Trans4M) coalition, will use seven distinct brands of public transportation, cover roughly 350 miles and take 56 hours. Media, advocates and residents are invited to join all or part of the adventure.

Making Michigan’s towns and economies more robust through transportation policy reform and smart investments in roads and bridges is the ambition behind Transportation For Michigan (Trans4M). The new coalition was announced today during a statewide telephone press conference.
